Zillow data in Zapier
Add a Zillow lookup to any Zap: a form, a CRM record or a new spreadsheet row triggers a request, and later steps use the listing price, status and Zestimate.
Base URL https://api.propertiesapi.com/v1 · auth header x-api-key. PropertiesAPI is an independent service that returns Zillow property and listing data as JSON, provided as-is.
How Zapier fits
A PropertiesAPI app for Zapier is built but not published yet, so it isn't listed in Zapier. Until it is, the Webhooks by Zapier action makes the same call: one GET request with your key in a header and the address or Zillow link from the trigger in the query.
Webhooks by Zapier is available on Zapier's paid plans. The response is JSON, and Zapier turns its fields into values you can map into later steps such as a CRM update, a Slack message or a new spreadsheet row.
A live lookup takes typically 8 seconds, up to about 20 seconds, and Zapier limits how long one step can run. If Zapier stops waiting, the lookup can still finish and be cached; running the step again soon after returns it from the cache.
Pick a trigger that carries an address or a link
For example a new form submission, a new CRM deal with a property address, or a new row in a sheet of Zillow links.
Trigger: New row in a spreadsheet
Property address 2640 Steiner St, San Francisco, CA 94115
Zillow link (optional)Add a Webhooks by Zapier GET action
Choose Webhooks by Zapier, event GET, and fill the fields as below. Use address when the trigger has an address, or url when it has a Zillow link. Send only one of them.
URL: https://api.propertiesapi.com/v1/zillow/property
Query String Params:

Headers:
x-api-key <your key>
Unflatten: yesTest the step and map the fields
The test runs a real lookup. The response fields arrive under data and meta; map the ones you need into the next step.
Data Address 2640 Steiner St, San Francisco, CA 94115
Data Home Status FOR_SALE
Data Price (list price, or empty when not shown)
Data Zestimate (empty when Zillow shows none)
Data Rent Zestimate

Meta Cached true when it came from the cache
Meta Credits 1 for a live lookup, 0 for a cache hitHandle a lookup that fails
A failed lookup stops the Zap with the API's error message. Add a Filter or Paths step if some triggers won't have a usable address, and send address_ambiguous cases to a person.
{ "error": { "code": "not_found", "message": "No Zillow property matches this input" } }
{ "error": { "code": "address_ambiguous", "message": "...", "details": { "candidate": { "detailUrl": "https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/..." } } } }
{ "error": { "code": "missing_param", "message": "..." } }Zapier gotchas
- Send exactly one of url, zpid or address. A Zap that maps both an address and a link answers with bad_param.
- Map the full address including city and state or ZIP. A street line alone fails the address check before any lookup, which is free but returns no data.
- Use the cached flag in later steps if you need to know whether the answer was fresh or from earlier in the day.
- Zapier's Code step can make the same request with fetch if you need to batch several homes from one trigger.
Zillow API and Zapier: questions
Is there a PropertiesAPI app on Zapier?+
It is built and coming to Zapier, but not published yet. Until it is, use Webhooks by Zapier as shown here; the request is the same one the app makes.
Do I need a paid Zapier plan?+
Webhooks by Zapier is a premium Zapier feature, so yes, on Zapier's side. Your PropertiesAPI plan is separate.
What does each Zap run cost?+
Zillow links and addresses cost the same: 1 credit per successful lookup. Repeat lookups of the same home within 24 hours come from our cache and are free. Failed lookups cost nothing.
Can a Zap look up homes in a whole area?+
No. Each lookup is one home you already know, by link, zpid or address. PropertiesAPI doesn't search an area or list homes for sale.
